Audience feedback: summaries (evaluation)

Audience feedback summaries
I asked some people to give feedback on my front cover, contents pages and DPS and this is a summary of what the feedback I received.
1)Who do you think this magazine is targeted for?

From all the responses I have received, it seems to be that the target audience is pretty clear. The all correctly stated that this magazine was for a people who are interested in hip hop and R&B music as well as fans of fashion and music. Someone said that the model and styling of the model represents the urban scene and the lifestyle of a hip-hop or R&B artist which gives direct contact with the audience and it shows the masses of interest in this genre.

2     2) How are different people represented in the magazine?

My aim was to show the positive scene of hip hop and R&B because back in the day being part of this industry meaning you were an outcast because hip hop music was considered as troublesome music because of the lyric content with the honesty and the gang crime content. But from the feedback I have received it seems like that from my magazine I gave reached my goals. I mentioned in my pitch my target audience were teenagers and young adults and this was noticed from the audience feedback. One person said that that unlike typical music magazines of this genre my model represents the genre being fully clothed and not looking a video vixen. One other comment said that that the way urban fashion is represented within the magazine is very influential and done artistically.

    3) What are the best aspects of this magazine?

From the feedback I received it seem like the photography was the strongest element in the magazine as the location shoot which was taken in brick lane shows the urban side of the magazine and it fits in well with the genre of my magazine and also with the fashion section as the comment mentioned. They said that the images also show the artistic side of the magazine (the graffiti background and the edits of the images). But other than the photography the layout of my magazine was also mentioned they said that it looks professional and consist with the genre.

  4) What could I have done to make it better?

Overall they said my magazine was real good and looked professional but what was suggest was that I could change the background colour from black to white on for the contents page and for all the text to be written in black so the colour theme could be more constant throughout the whole magazine.

  5)  How have my technical and creative skills developed since my college magazine?

Throughout out the process of making my music magazine, I learnt how to use inDesign better I have become more familiar with the software. When doing my contents page I learnt how to do a double page spread, using the colours and tools on the software. In photo-shop I learnt how to airbrush pictures and use the curve to fix the contrast and brightness.
